Hi,

Unlike other PC download applications  the Xbox app doesn't practise the installation of games (although it looks like it does). All games are actually installed via the Windows Store.

To update your games  manually you  should be able practise this via the Windows Shop and  access updates from the tiptop correct corner of the store in  the same fashion all Windows Store apps are  updated

Equally stated in my initial post, I have tried updating in the microsoft shop. The "get updates" push button on the upper right of the microsoft shop does indeed manage to find updates for useless built-in apps I really wish I could delete; simply it has never one time found an update for a game. Every bit far every bit I can tell, there doesn't seem to be a mode to check individual games for an update. This is really weird.

For case, I was on Dead by Daylight five.0.0 yesterday, but at that place was an update to v.0.i recently. Neither the microsoft store nor the xbox app detected this automatically. When I pressed "get updates" in the microsoft store, it managed to find updates for "your phone" and "microsoft solitaire collection", but not Dead by Daylight (or any other game). I ended upward having to uninstall the game, redownload, and reinstall it. This took multiple hours and fabricated the net extremely slow , but did actually manage to fetch the update.

The Xbox app does have an "update all" push in the upper right; but this button is always grayed out and has never once been clickable, making it worthless, as is the "automatic updates" switch on the same screen.

Is there some subconscious push button to force an individual game for updates? Or is there some setting that could exist interfering? It seems extremely foreign that the app can't do something as elementary as noticing that the version number for a game doesn't lucifer the almost recent version.

I was able to solve this. My Xbox app on PC showed a new update for Doom Eternal. But clicking Update in that app didn't exercise anything.

On opening the Microsoft Shop and going to updates, it listed the Doom Eternal update forth with a few others. I did a Update all and to my surprise all apps, except Doom Eternal got updated and information technology remained in my queue.

Then I clicked Get Updates. Information technology found a few more apps to update and this time Doom Eternal update started downloading too. No idea what the trigger is though.

An update:

A couple days ago, Dead by Daylight v.0.two was released, so I decided to use this as an opportunity to endeavour out a few things to come across if I could somehow get the microsoft store to observe the update.

1) A friend of mine had the same problem, and the fashion he resolved information technology was to go to the game's page in the store and click "install on my devices", next to the play button. This evidently worked just fine for him and he was able to install the update. Unfortunately when I tried this, it merely tells me that it is already installed on my device. Failure.

two) While the microsoft store doesn't seem to have any option to verify an install (it REALLY needs this), there IS a "repair" choice in the app settings for Dead by Daylight (not accessible through the microsoft store, past the style). I was hoping that attempting to repair the install might detect that it was out of appointment. However, clicking repair merely resolves in less than 2 seconds. Failure.

iii) I decided to try what Vinod suggested and just keep attempting to "get updates" repeatedly after the windows shop manages to update other apps. Unfortunately this did aught. In one case all apps were updated, pressing the "get updates" button does not detect any farther updates, no matter how much I exercise it. Failure.

For context hither is a screenshot of my microsoft store screen:

Every bit y'all can see, Dead by Daylight is listed every bit beingness on version 5.0.1 despite 5.0.2 being released on the 29th.

This system is entirely broken and desperately needs both a "bank check for updates" push button on private apps, and a LOT more work on the underlying systems used to detect updates in the first place. The fact that I take to completely uninstall and reinstall the game only to install minor hotfixes is totally unacceptable.

I've been having troubles with Wasteland 3 from the xbox-gaming-pass two times already (the latter one but solved right at present). The game from ane twenty-four hour period to the other started crashing at startup displaying a bulletin regarding an mistake due to an update that has to be installed (but updating was grayed out in the xbox-app, and microsoft store did non see the game at all). What works for me is searching the game in the Microsoft Store and and so non clicking the game-pass version, but rather the one from the store itself. It and so starts downloading the update (actually it says that it's 'installing the game' above the progress bar, but the download size of ~3GB vs >20GB of the initial install through the xbox-app seems more similar this missing 'update' to me). I promise this works for other games also, at least it'due south a trigger for Wasteland 3 on xbox/game-pass.

Why? How tin can we be in 2021 and accept a fairly new app launched with such terrible functionality. The Only reason one needs a launcher is to manage games. Launching games I can do from my desktop. Steam has existed for a long time now. Is it too much to ask that the largest software company in history at least provide basic, convenient functionality in its apps? Why IS there even a windows store for games? Why on earth isn't all this bundled into one app? Isn't that the purpose of having the app? I mean this is just kind of absurd. How is it possible that nobody at MS realized how annoying it would be to have to use the app to download and launch games but the web based store to update and manage them?

Its kind of mind blowing.

Same Issue. The xbox app stopped installing updates and does not check updates automatically. What is even more annoying is the Microsoft store app tin can install updates simply it cannot check for them. What is wrong xbox platform on pc?

Aforementioned result hither, and upgrading to Windows eleven Beta did not resolve information technology. At this indicate information technology's pretty clear that the XBox app, and Windows Stor integration with it, is totally broken. Is at that place a way to bring this more than to Microsoft'south attention?
